Hi, I'm Dana. I help new managers lead with confidence.
I coach first-time and mid-level managers through the hardest promotion of their careers: the one from doing the work to leading the people who do it.
How I got here
I was promoted to manage a team of nine nurses at a Denver hospital when I was 29. I was a good nurse. I was not, at first, a good manager. I avoided conflict, worked double shifts to cover gaps I should have delegated, and lost two of my best people in my first year.
What turned it around was a mentor who sat down with me every other week and taught me the basics nobody else had: how to run a one-on-one, how to give feedback that people could hear, how to say no to my own boss. Within a year my team had the lowest turnover in the building.
I went on to lead operations teams at two software companies, and I kept seeing the same thing. Talented people were promoted and then left to sink or swim. In 2016 I started Clearpath Coaching to give new managers the support I was lucky enough to get.
Today I work with managers from startups, hospitals, universities and Fortune 500 companies, one-on-one and in small groups. I still live in Denver, where you'll find me on a trail most weekends with my husband and our very opinionated border collie.
