Meet the instructors
A meet-the-team page for studios, gyms and wellness businesses. Each instructor gets a photo card with their name, what they teach, their training and something personal, so members can find someone they will click with before their first class. A short band sets out how the whole team teaches, and a member's words and a closing button lead to the timetable and the free trial. Swap in your own team photos and bios, and add or remove cards as your team changes.
Meet the instructors
The people who make Northside Yoga & Fitness feel like home
Our teachers bring more than 60 years of combined experience, and every one of them still takes classes alongside you. Here's who you'll meet on the mat.

Maya Chen
Founder and lead yoga teacher. Teaches Sunrise, Power and Hot Vinyasa, and Yin and Sound Bath. E-RYT 500, trained in Minneapolis and Mysore. Maya opened the studio in 2015 after a decade in corporate law, and still believes the best class of the week is 6am on a Monday.

Jamal Wright
Head of strength. Teaches Strength Foundations, Strength and Conditioning, HIIT and Mobility. NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. A former college football player and physical therapy aide, Jamal is known for perfect form cues and terrible puns.

Sofia Ramirez
Teaches Pilates Mat, Barre Burn, Prenatal Yoga and All Levels Vinyasa. Comprehensive Pilates certification and RYT 200 with prenatal training. Sofia danced with a Twin Cities contemporary company for six years and brings that same joy to every class.

Linda Sorensen
Teaches Gentle Yoga, Slow Flow, Yoga Nidra, Family Yoga and the Beginners' Yoga Series. E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT yoga therapist. A retired nurse, Linda specializes in classes for new students, older adults and anyone coming back from injury.
Also on the team
Derek Olson leads our indoor cycle classes, and our front desk team of Priya, Tom and Abby will learn your name by your second visit.
How we teach
Every body, every level
We offer options in every class, so a first-timer and a ten-year student can share a room and both leave challenged.
Coaching, not performing
Our instructors walk the room. Expect hands-on help with your form, always with your permission.
Always learning
The whole team completes at least 30 hours of continuing education every year, from anatomy to trauma-informed teaching.
Linda's Beginners' Series gave me the confidence to try everything else. Now I do Jamal's strength class on Tuesdays and Maya's Friday flow to end the week.
Come and take a class with us
Your first 14 days are free, including a welcome session with one of our instructors.
