Volunteer sign-up

A volunteer recruitment page for a nonprofit that relies on regular helpers. It opens with a split hero, describes each volunteer role with its time commitment, explains what a first shift is really like, answers the questions people ask before they commit and ends with a sign-up form from your own Form Generator. Rename the roles to match your programs, update the shift times and the form's options, and add a photo of your own volunteers to make it yours.

Volunteer with Riverbend Community Gardens

Two hours, real dirt, good company

Last year 620 volunteers kept our six Columbus gardens growing. No experience needed, just a willingness to get your hands dirty.

Find the role that fits

Choose one, or try a few. You can change roles any time.

Garden crew

Weeding, watering, building beds and turning compost on Saturday mornings. Our most flexible role: come when you can. 2 to 3 hours, weekly or occasional.

Harvest share runner

Pick, wash and pack produce, then drive it to one of our three partner pantries. A car and a valid license are needed. Tuesday or Friday, 3 hours.

Youth Growers mentor

Work alongside teens aged 13 to 17 through the summer program, helping with projects and the weekly market stand. Background check required. 4 hours a week, June to August.

Workshop host

Share a skill you know well, from canning to seed saving to rain barrels, at one of our free Saturday workshops. One session, plus planning.

Events team

Set up, welcome guests and pour lemonade at the Spring Plant Sale and the fall Harvest Supper. Two big days a year, plus smaller pop-ups.

Office and outreach

Help with mailings, data entry and our volunteer phone tree, or translate flyers into Spanish, Somali or Nepali. Weekday afternoons or from home.

No surprises

What to expect on your first shift

  • Arrive 10 minutes early. Your garden lead will meet you at the tool shed with a name tag.
  • A short safety talk covers tools, heat and where the first aid kit and water are kept.
  • You will be paired with a regular volunteer for your first hour, so you are never left guessing.
  • We stop halfway for water and a snack. Gardening is hard work, and so is talking about it.
  • Before you leave, we will ask how it went and help you pick your next shift if you'd like one.

Before you sign up

What should I wear?

Closed-toe shoes, clothes that can get muddy, a hat and sunscreen. We have gloves in every size, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes, for garden crew shifts. Children under 14 need an adult with them the whole time. Teens 14 and up can volunteer on their own with a signed parent form.

Do you take groups?

We host corporate, school and faith groups of up to 20 people from April through October. Mention your group in the form and we will be in touch to plan a date.

Can I earn service hours?

Yes. We sign off school, court and community service hours. Tell your garden lead at the start of each shift so your hours are logged.

What if it rains?

Light rain, we work. Thunderstorms or heavy rain, we cancel and text everyone by 7am.

I came for one Saturday to get my service hours. Three years later I am a crew lead.
