Meet our trainers

A team page for dog training schools, grooming salons, vets and any pet business where owners want to know who will handle their animal. It opens with a full-width image hero, introduces the lead trainer with a longer story, shows the rest of the team as photo cards with specialties, sets out shared credentials and promises about training methods, and closes with a client quote and an invitation to book. The sample is a Raleigh dog training school. Swap in your own team photos, bios and certifications.

Meet the Good Dog Academy team

The people behind the treats

Certified, insured, endlessly patient and slightly obsessed with dogs. Every trainer on our team uses kind, reward-based methods, and only those.

Chris Nakamura

Founder and lead trainer. Certified professional dog trainer.

Founder and lead trainer

Chris Nakamura

Chris started training dogs as a volunteer at a Wake County shelter, where he spent six years helping hard-to-place dogs find homes. The dogs that came back were almost never bad dogs. They were dogs nobody had taught how to live with people.

He founded Good Dog Academy in 2015 to teach owners as much as their dogs. Today he leads our behavior program, teaches the advanced classes and records most of the lessons in our online Training Club.

  • Certified professional dog trainer, knowledge assessed

  • Certified in canine fear and reactivity

  • Pet first aid and CPR certified

  • Lives in Raleigh with Mochi, a 9-year-old black Lab who loves the mail carrier

Our promises to you and your dog

Kind methods only

We use rewards, management and patience. We never use pain, fear or intimidation.

Always learning

Every trainer completes at least 20 hours of continuing education a year.

Honest advice

If your dog needs a vet or veterinary behaviorist, we will tell you and help you find one.

Fully insured

All trainers are insured, background checked and certified in pet first aid.

Tasha worked with our rescue, Biscuit, for four months. She never once made us feel like failures, even on the bad days. Biscuit now naps on the porch while kids walk by, which we never thought we would see.
