Privacy policy

A privacy policy written in plain English for a membership site that takes payments and sends email. It covers what you collect and why, cookies, payment providers, how long you keep data, members' rights and how to contact you, with a short summary at the top. Every site is different, so read it through, change what does not match how you work, and have it checked by an adviser before you publish it.

Privacy policy

Last updated November 6, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Harborview Members Club collects when you visit our site or become a member, how we use it, and the choices you have.

The short version

We collect what we need to run your membership and nothing more. We never sell your information. You can see, correct or delete it at any time by emailing hello@example.com.

1. What we collect

When you join or contact us, we collect the details you give us:

  • your name, email address and password (stored only in encrypted form)
  • your billing address and the plan you choose
  • anything you add to your profile, posts in the forums, and messages you send us

When you use the site we also record technical information such as your browser, the pages you visit and when you signed in. This helps us keep your account secure and improve the site.

2. How we use it

We use your information to provide your membership, take payments, send the emails you have signed up for, answer your questions and keep the site safe. We only send marketing emails if you have agreed to them, and every one has a link to unsubscribe.

3. Who we share it with

We share information only with the companies that help us run the site, and only what they need:

WhoWhy
Our payment providerTo take your membership payments. We never see or store your full card number.
Our email serviceTo send account emails and newsletters you have chosen to receive.
Our hosting companyTo store the site and its data securely.

We will also share information if the law requires it.

4. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser, but some parts of the site, such as the members area, will not work without them.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account information while you are a member and for up to two years afterwards, so you can come back without starting again. Payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires. You can ask us to delete your account sooner.

6. Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, download a copy, or have it deleted. You can also object to how we use it. We will reply within 30 days.

7. Contact us

If you have a question about this policy or your information, email hello@example.com. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

This policy is a starting point, not legal advice. Check it against how your site actually works, and ask an adviser to review it before you publish.
