Terms of service

Terms of service written for a membership site that sells recurring plans and runs an online members area. It covers who can join, accounts and passwords, billing and automatic renewal, cancelling, community rules, who owns what, and the limits of your liability, with a plain-English summary at the top and a table of contents. Change the plan details, notice periods and governing state to match how you run your site, then have it reviewed by an adviser before you publish it.

Terms of service

Last updated November 6, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Harborview Members Club when you use our website or become a member. Please read them before you join. By creating an account, you agree to them.

The short version
  • Your membership renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from your account page.
  • Keep your password to yourself. A membership is for one person.
  • Be respectful in the community. We may remove posts or accounts that break the rules below.
  • What you post stays yours. What we publish stays ours.

1. Joining

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, to become a member. When you join, please give us accurate details and keep them up to date, so we can reach you about your account and payments.

2. Your account

Your membership is personal to you. Please do not share your sign-in details or let anyone else use your account. If you think someone else has used it, change your password and tell us right away at hello@example.com.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, so choose a strong password that you do not use anywhere else.

3. Billing and renewals

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you choose. Prices are shown in US dollars and include any fees we charge. Sales tax is added where the law requires it.

Plan typeWhen you are chargedRenewal reminder
MonthlyOn the day you join, then on the same day each monthShown on your account page
YearlyOn the day you join, then once a yearEmailed 14 days before renewal
Free trialWhen the trial ends, unless you cancel firstEmailed 3 days before the trial ends

If a payment fails, we will try again over the following days and email you so you can update your card. If we still cannot take payment, your access may be paused until the account is brought up to date.

We may change the price of a plan. If we do, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before then if you prefer.

4. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account page, or by emailing us. When you cancel, your plan will not renew, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Our cancellation and refund policy explains when refunds are given.

5. Community rules

Our forums, comments and events work because members treat each other well. When you take part, please:

  • be respectful, even when you disagree
  • keep other members' personal details and private messages private
  • post only things you have the right to share
  • keep promotions and sales pitches to the areas where they are welcome

Please do not post anything that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or misleading, or anything that contains viruses or harmful code. Do not try to copy the members area in bulk, get around its security, or resell access to it.

We may edit or remove posts that break these rules, and we may suspend or close accounts that break them seriously or repeatedly.

6. Who owns what

Our content

The articles, videos, downloads, courses and designs on Harborview Members Club belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. Your membership lets you use them for your own personal use while you are a member. Please do not copy, share, sell or republish them without our written permission.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting it, you give us permission to show it on the site, and to keep it there after you leave if it is part of a conversation other members have replied to. You can ask us to remove your posts at any time.

7. Changes to the site and these terms

We are always improving the site, so features and content may change over time. We may also update these terms. If a change is significant, we will email members at least 30 days before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when the terms last changed.

8. Our responsibility to you

We work hard to keep the site running and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. The content we publish is general information, not professional advice for your situation.

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law.

9. Ending an account

You can close your account at any time. We may close an account that breaks these terms, after warning you where it is reasonable to do so. If we close your account without a good reason, we will refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.

10. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine. If you have a concern, please contact us first at hello@example.com. Most problems can be sorted out quickly that way.

These terms are a starting point, not legal advice. Change them to match how your site works, including your state, plans and notice periods, and ask an adviser to review them before you publish.
