Large Files Can be Uploaded Directly Through the Control Panel

Features

Previously large files had to be uploaded to your site via ftp into the ftptemp folder. This is no longer the case.

Large files can now be uploaded directly through the control panel.

There are many different areas of the control panel that can be used to upload files - 'file upload', 'download area', multimedia players like the video and audio player as well as the shopping cart area to upload products available for sale as a download file. In the past, large files may have created a timeout error when uploading via the control panel. Now, there will not be any timeout error and no reason to use FTP. The large files can be uploaded in the same field as small files.

As a bonus, in the 'File Upload' functionality, it is also possible to upload multiple files at one time. Previously, only one file could be uploaded at one time.

Why Upload Files to Your Site?

File Upload: Files uploaded to the 'File Upload' area can be available to non-members for downloading purposes, images that can be added to other areas of your site, video or audio files that can be embedded on your pages with third party scripts as well as any other types of files that you would like to upload to your site.

Download Area: Files uploaded to the download area are protected. These files are available for your members to download and can be used as part of subscription benefits to your site.

Video Player: Files are uploaded to the video player option to create a player that can be embedded on your content or department pages. This allows the video to be streamed right from your site.

Audio Player: Files are uploaded to the audio player option to create a player that can be embedded on you content or department pages. This allows the audio to be streamed right from your site.

Shopping Cart Downloads: Downloadable products can be sold in the shopping cart. These products can be sold to both non-members or members (possibly at a discounted rate).
