You can change the US Dollar currency symbol to the currency symbol of your choosing.
Prior to changing the symbol on your site, be sure to let your payment gateway know which currency will be accepted on your site.
Currency Symbol
The currency symbol can be edited on the right side of the control panel under Master Settings Edit Site Descriptions
Under the 'Billings Settings' section enter the new currency in the Currency Symbol field.
